As a youngster, Pam Lusk grew up in a loving family that spent much of their time in the outdoors doing fun activities. Being from Arizona meant lots of off roading, water skiing on the river, many trips down to Mexico and camping in the mountains. As time passed and Pam became an adult, she had a beautiful, healthy son Aaron who also grew very fond of the outdoors sharing the sentiment with Pam. Pam later went back to school and got a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
She spent nearly 20 years working as a physical therapist before taking a leap of faith to start a farm with her husband. Pam immersed herself in learning everything possible on growing wine grapes and making fresh artisan cheese from the dairy cows they purchased – something she knew nothing about! Several years later she enjoyed co-running a beautiful wine grape vineyard which produces 20 tons of grapes annually for a local Arizona wine maker along with the farmstead creamery where plenty of fresh artisan cheese is made and sold at the local farmers market along with their amazing fresh produce.
Tragically, in December of 2017 the unimaginable occurred, Pam lost Aaron her only child at the young age of 26. Aaron loved being on the farm with Pam and they were extremely close. As most parents do, Pam had big hopes and dreams of spending holidays with Aaron’s future family and spoiling her future grandkids.
Beyond heartbroken after his passing, Pam continued to endure this heartache and sorrow in her life. However; life has a way of showing us little signs on how to keep going. Before Aaron’s passing Pam signed up for a fitness competition. Deciding to put her energy into this competition rather than fading away, she trained relentlessly to complete her commitment to the competition, facing many fears that can come with such competitions. Pam persisted and found the courage to work hard as she knew that in her heart everything that she went through was for a greater purpose than for her to just fall.
About a year and a half after the passing of her son, life threw another heart-breaking curve ball. After 20 years of marriage, she got divorced and moved off the farm.
With all that she has grieved, it has enhanced her appreciation for nature being extremely therapeutic in her healing process. Pam has said, “There have been times I could have given up and crawled into a fetal position, but I found a vigorous passion in fitness, wellness, and nature and chose to persevere – it is what I know and love!” Pam has used what she knows as a physical therapist, and her fitness training to find joy, happiness, beauty, and love even amid sadness and chaos; It is Pam’s passion to show others that they too can find a light in the darkest of places. Pam has remained strong against the storms and will continue to push herself so that she can make the best of her time here on earth.
“Life is short. I want to do and be as much as I can, with the time I have.” – Pam Lusk
Born an only child to an immigrant family, Annemaria Allen was destined for adventure and exploring. Her Italian father, a WWII Italian resistance fighter and Korean war hero, taught her how to survive with very little. Her Danish mother, who was lifeless at birth, taught Annemaria to be a free spirit, to always laugh, and to live your best life. At a very early age, Annemaria was fishing, hiking, camping and living the life of a free spirit. She remembers learning how to tie her hook to her fishing line before learning how to tie her shoes. At the age of 13 while living in the Arizona White Mountains with her parents she quickly found a fascination for hiking and wanting to conquer mountain peaks. Spending most of her childhood in the mountains and Baja, California, life as she knew it was filled with outdoor experiences and ideas of creating her own business someday to allow her the freedom to travel. Being from immigrant parent’s money was not always plentiful, but she continued to keep her perseverance and creativeness strong against all odds.
Married in 1996 and having two beautiful children, a son and daughter, Annemaria started her first business while she was pregnant with her second child. During the first 8 years of her business there were constant obstacles, losing both of her parents and father-in-law, raising two small children, and being a wife started to take a toll. Looking in the mirror in 2012 she realized that at 5’2 she weighed 300lbs, her marriage was failing, and she needed to desperately make some monumental changes within her company. Not knowing what to tackle first and feeling extremely overwhelmed, she then realized if she were to push through these obstacles, she would need to focus on saving herself. This meant losing weight and getting healthy, so she could take care of her children, work on her marriage and have enough energy for her company. While it didn’t happen overnight, she never stopped pushing through to the next challenge. Learning how to live a healthy lifestyle was key. For so long she had put herself last thinking that taking care of herself was nothing but a constant chore. She believes all stories have happy endings; it all just depends on how you look at it. Losing over 120 lbs., learning how to cook and eat healthy, building a successful company, and raising her children was a true success. While her marriage did end, she still believes that everything happens for a reason, even if it isn’t always clear at first. After going through her life’s journey’s and struggles and really understanding that it truly is lonely at the top sometimes, it has become her passion to help women who have similar struggles.
“It’s important to put your mask on first and live your utmost best healthy life. Get out in nature and embrace this wonderful world that we call Earth.” – Annemaria Allen
